IN this week’s Boxing News Gavin Rees provides the expert view for our preview of Adrien Broner’s clash with Khabib Allakhverdiev for the WBA super-lightweight title on Saturday (October 3).

The Welshman, who lost to Broner in 2013 at 135lbs, said, “Broner should never have gone to welterweight, he doesn’t have the power. At lightweight, he had unbelievable power and speed, he was untouchable at that weight and still would be now. It remains to be seen how well he’ll do at super-lightweight, but I imagine he’ll have power and will do well. He needs to switch on more in fights though. If he ups his workrate and stops living in Floyd Mayweather’s shadow, he should win.”
