TOP RANK are looking to match Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr with Carl Froch in early 2015. But the missing piece of the puzzle is Chavez himself. Top Rank need to resolve their promotional dispute with the Mexican.

“We are trying to come to terms with him to fulfil his contract and do his last fight with Top Rank and we’ve talked to Barry Hearn and we know that we can do a Chavez-Froch fight some time in the early part of next year. But we’ll have to see. It’s up to Chavez,” Bob Arum told Boxing News in Macau. “We’re ready to do it. I know Barry is ready to do it from Froch’s side.

“He wants to fight in Vegas.”

Apart from his March rematch with Bryan Vera, Chavez Jnr has been inactive in 2014.

Froch reached the pinnacle of the sport when he knocked out George Groves in front of 80,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium in May. His final ambition, to round off a magnificent career, is a big fight in Las Vegas.
