PUERTO RICAN legend Miguel Cotto has not fought since his 2015 points defeat to Canelo Alvarez. But he insists he’ll be ready for his August 26 opponent, Japan’s Yoshihiro Kamegai.

“I’m really happy to be back. I’m really happy to be here. Our training camp starts on July 1. We’re going to return to Puerto Rico, I’ll come back in the last days of June. I’m going to do the best I can in the training camp just to bring my best. Kamegai, he’s a tough fighter. I know he’s coming with victory on his mind. I’m going to work as hard as possible. I’m going to do the best I can. For this fight I’m going to fight with my heart. As always,” Cotto said.

Kamegai himself was full of praise for Cotto. “For me to fight someone I’ve been a fan of since I was 20 years old is an honour and I look forward to fighting him,” he said.

But the Japanese fighter insisted, “I am going out there to win this fight.”

He added, “I really don’t speak English very well but I do speak boxing and I plan to put on an entertaining and great performance. Please watch this fight.”
