THE trainer of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has made a startling admission before Chavez’s showdown with Mexican rival Canelo Alvarez this Saturday (May 6) in Las Vegas. To get himself ready for Canelo, Chavez has put his wayward past behind him and his team insist he has prepared properly for this fight, going as far as hiring renowned Mexican coach, Nacho Beristain.

Beristain did however contrast himself with the cornermen backing Canelo; Alvarez’s long time trainers Chepo and Eddie Reynoso.

Speaking at the MGM Grand the day before the weigh-in, Beristain said, “This is the first time I’m working with Chavez and we’re fighting the best fighter in all of Mexico, probably the world. Canelo’s had these two guys with him for a very, very long time.”

Beristain did however maintain, “I have confidence, we’re working hard together. But still the chips are stacked against us.”
