THE 10-round heavyweight match-up between Bermondsey banger David Haye and Kosovan-Swiss Arnold Gjergjaj marks Haye’s second fight back since returning to the ring in January following three-and-a-half years out of the squared circle. After crushing the overmatched Mark de Mori in just 131 seconds in his comeback bout at the start of the year, boxing fans and pundits alike were intrigued to find out who his next opponent would be. There was talk of the heavy-handed Londoner opposing a ranked heavyweight such as Carlos Takam or Malik Scott, but instead he opted for the unheralded and unrated Gjergjaj – a name that certainly doesn’t roll off the tongue, in both a verbal and box office sense. The O2 Arena in Greenwich will host the clash, which is set for Saturday May 21.
