FRANKIE GAVIN has withdrawn from his October 17 fight with Sam Eggington in Birmingham. It would have been an exciting clash between two hometown rivals but a foot injury has forced Gavin to pull out.

This would have been Frankie’s first fight since losing a world title challenge to Kell Brook inside the distance in May.

Sam Eggington has been rising up through the ranks, beating the likes of Denton Vassell and Glenn Foot.

On his twitter account, Frankie said, “Sorry to say I have had to pull out my fight. I got ran over two and a half weeks ago and had two weeks off training. I was thinking it would heal but it hasn’t so I have had to pull out.”

He hopes for the fight to be rescheduled and that he himself can be back in the ring in November or December.
