PROMOTER Eddie Hearn would like the 44 year old Shannon Briggs to appear on one of Matchroom Boxing’s shows.

“I don’t know. I liked him,” Hearn said of the confrontational American. “I think he’s a good character. He’s a good personality. He’s a bit old. He looks in great shape.”

Not that Hearn has any plans to match him against the heavyweight star he promotes, Anthony Joshua. “Not for Joshua,” Hearn said, before adding, ”He’s still dangerous, Shannon Briggs, don’t worry about that. He’s better than a lot of domestic heavyweights out there now. But these domestic heavyweights have got to fight each other. That Dave Allen, he’ll fight David Price. Dillian Whyte against Shannon Briggs? I don’t know. There’s too many people that won’t have proper fights. It’s very, very frustrating.

“If we can find a deal with Shannon Briggs I’d like to box him on a show and see what he’s got left. He might have nothing left at all, might look devastating but he’s good fun.”
