THE first time I saw Barry McGuigan box live was when my hero, Jim McDonnell, beat him [in 1989]. One of my strongest assets is I have no emotion towards people I do business with, and my dad is different. His mentality is, ‘Tell them to go f*** themselves’, whereas mine is, ‘We need to get this done’. I know when I’m talking to Barry he’s looking at me thinking, ‘I can’t stand you.’ But when I look at him I’m just thinking about what’s being said and what we need to achieve. So, I have no problem talking to him, but I could not negotiate with a man who lets emotion get in the way of making correct business decisions.
