Azumah Nelson was perhaps the greatest African fighter of all-time, writes Daniel Herbert
Author - Daniel Herbert
Daniel Herbert was full-time on the Boxing News staff from 1985 to 2013, making it all the way from Editorial Assistant to Managing Editor. Those 28 years saw him cover the whole gamut of boxing - professional and amateur, big shows and small, all over the UK and in many other countries besides. Some of the many highlights were being ringside in Las Vegas when Mike Tyson crushed Trevor Berbick to become the youngest world heavyweight champion, plus witnessing Julio Cesar Chavez box in front of 132,000 fans in Mexico City. And following the amateur code closely saw him attend numerous editions of the World and European Championships, plus the Commonwealth Games. Still in love with the sport after all those years, he now contributes on a freelance basis.
