Alvarez has been fighting top opposition for a long time now. He’s at the top level of the sport now. Everybody is due an easier fight shall we say but I’m not so sure that’s the case with Alvarez now because his levels are so high. It’s certainly not a fight that excites me.

Look I am a little disappointed we still haven’t seen the Billy Joe Saunders fight just yet, it’s looking like he’s facing his WBC mandatory challenger and then let’s hope he fights Billy Joe in May.

I’m a big fan of Canelo but the fight with Yildirim really doesn’t pique my interest at all. Canelo has been boxing frequently against decent level of opposition so maybe he is due an easier fight… Even Ali, Louis et al didn’t fight the best opponent every fight.

Not disappointed in the slightest. It’s essentially a toss-up between seeing the biggest star in the sport box either two or three times this year, so you have to go with the latter. Of course he will make light work of Avni Yildirim but hopefully this might prompt some of boxing’s other behemoths to box more regularly.
