ONE week after 35-year-old Mikkel Kessler announced he was in a “state of retirement” Danish tabloid newspaper BT have announced that their hero is being lined up for a lucrative return against former conqueror, Andre Ward.

The pair fought in 2009 with Ward winning an upset technical decision. The newspaper reported that a sequel could secure Kessler 15 million Danish kroner and the National Stadium – that does not charge rent but takes all the money from refreshment sales – would host the event.

It was also suggested that HBO would broadcast the fight in the USA, while local company MTG would deliver the footage in Denmark. The Sauerlands would promote, the report states.

Neither fighter has been active recently. Kessler was last seen in combat in May 2013, losing a bruising rematch to Carl Froch, while Ward has been out of action since November of that year when he defeated Edwin Rodriguez over 12 rounds.
