THE controversy that unfolded since Paulie Malignaggi stormed out of Conor McGregor’s training camp has taken a new twist. Malignaggi was outraged that pictures were released from one of their spars, showing Malignaggi on the deck with McGregor over him. Paulie insisted that was from being pushed down.

Escalating the dispute, UFC president Dana White unexpectedly released footage from a spar between the two.

One appears to show McGregor dropping Malignaggi, or at the least Paulie losing his footing. “Here is the video everyone wanted to see of Conor vs Paulie Malignaggi former IBF and WBA world champion,” White said.

He also put out another brief clip of McGregor slinging punches at Malignaggi. White maintains this shows McGregor in the ascendancy. “For all the people who think Conor McGregor can’t box. This [challenging Floyd Mayweather] is gonna be a FIGHT! Conor vs Paulie Malignaggi former IBF/WBA world champion,” White claimed.

Judge for yourselves, watch it here:

It should be noted these are very brief clips, that don’t tell the story of the spar let alone give much indication how McGregor will fare against the imperious Floyd Mayweather. Afterall Malignaggi did retire from the sport after losing to Sam Eggington in March.

In his first professional boxing bout UFC star McGregor fights Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on August 26.
