THE highly anticipated rematch between world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former king Wladimir Klitschko, set for Manchester Arena on July 9, has been postponed after Fury injured his ankle during training, Boxing News understands.

Englishman Fury, who impressively dethroned Klitschko via unanimous points decision in Germany seven months ago, was scheduled to make his first defence against the Ukrainian in just over two weeks’ time. However, while out running in preparation for the bout, Fury twisted his ankle, and is subsequently unable to compete on the agreed date.

According to Boxing News’ sources, the contest is likely to be rescheduled for either October 8 or October 29 at Manchester Arena.
