OMAHA’S Terence Crawford retained his WBO super-lightweight championship with a fifth-round knockout of ‘Hammerin’ Hank Lundy at New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden.
Crawford – unbeaten at 28-0 with 20 stoppages – is one of the sport’s best fighters at any weight and was making his New York debut in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,092 at the arena’s Theater.
Philadelphia’s 32-year-old Lundy drops to 28-6-1 (13).
“Sensational” purred veteran promoter Bob Arum, “he’s gotten better and better with every fight.”
In the c-feature, Puerto Rico’s hot prospect Felix Verdejo continues his rise with a commanding unanimous decision of Brazil’s William Silva.
