A COLD, cruel and fearsome Sergey Kovalev successfully defended his light-heavyweight titles last night (January 30) at the Bell Centre in Montreal when Freddie Roach called a halt to the one-sided beating after seven rounds. His fighter, Jean Pascal, had had enough.

“I would fight more rounds and make him more pain” seethed the 32-year-old Russian champion who improves to 29-0-1 (26 stoppages). The 33-year-old beaten challenger drops to 30-4-1 (17).
