After stopping the 17 stone Cuban in the 10th round to claim his 39th stoppage win in 40 fights, the Bronze Bomber was quick to call out WBA and IBF holder Joshua and the leading online bookmaker is now odds-on for the fight to take place immediately after the Brit’s bout with Parker.
Joshua, expected to overcome Parker and take the WBO belt later this month at odds of 1/12, is 4/5 to take on Wilder next, while Alexander Povetkin, whose only loss came to Wladimir Klitschko in 2013, is second on the list at 3/1 to stand in his way first.
Kubrat Pulev is 6/1 to jump the queue and rearrange the fight he missed with Joshua back in October, and Tyson Fury, who still looks some way off his return to the ring, can be backed at the same price.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Everybody wants the Joshua-Wilder fight to happen and odds of 4/5 suggest there’s a good chance that a deal will be done.
“However, money talks and drawn out negotiations between the two sides could see plans put on hold once more, so it’s not a huge surprise to see Alexander Povetkin quietly fancied to be Joshua’s post-Parker opponent at 3/1.”
