MANNY PACQUIAO has told the Manila Standard that he expects his elusive superfight with Floyd Mayweather to at last be confirmed.

“We will make an announcement before the end of the month,” said Pacquiao in the report. “I think it [the fight] will happen.”

The Filipino indicated the contest might take place on May 2 because “that’s what he [Mayweather] wants.”

The Los Angeles Times is also optimistic about the fight occurring.

Mayweather has apparently demanded a 60-40 purse split – to which Pacquiao has agreed – and the rivals are also seeing eye to eye on the MGM Grand venue in Las Vegas, and the drug testing procedures for the fight.

The newspaper expects the contest to be confirmed within seven days.
