Gavin Rees explains the strengths of Adrien Broner ahead of Paul Malignaggi fight

The Welshman wonders if the rise in weight will be a Problem

"IT’S a tricky fight to predict. It depends what gaining 12lbs takes out of Adrien Broner. In our fight, for the first couple of rounds, my speed was causing him some difficulties. Then he caught me with a huge uppercut and it really depends if he takes that power up to welterweight.

"I couldn’t imagine going up and fighting a welterweight!

"Broner is such a big puncher though, the biggest I’ve been in with. When he hit me with the uppercut I didn’t even feel it. I was sat on the floor and I thought, ‘Why am I down here?’

"With other fighters they’ll catch you with one shot and you can shake it off and recover but with Broner, he’ll hit you with one, and then you’ve got two or three coming at the top of your head. That’s the difference and he’ll then throw four, fives and sixes and you can’t recover. They’re all hard and meaty punches.

"Paul Malignaggi is a tough welterweight and he can take a shot. I think he’ll make it hard for Broner during the early stages. I think he can out-speed him and outwork him, but I think Broner will catch up with him in the end."
