Timothy Bradley scored the winner over Juan Manuel Marquez by 78 boxing writers

The judge who favoured Marquez is in the minority

TIMOTHY BRADLEY put himself in line for another mega fight as he boxed a very controlled fight to upstage Mexican Legend Juan Manuel Marquez at the Thomas and Mack Centre in Las Vegas Nevada. Bradley scored a split decision that almost immediately caused uproar online as one of the judges (Glenn Feldmann) scored the fight for Marquez 115-113. Although not a totally outrageous score due to three to four very close rounds, the vast majority of media at ringside and watching from TV had this fight close but clear for Bradley.

Many beforehand were questioning Bradley's condition as in his previous fight he took a lot of punches from Ruslan Provodnikov. Bradley won the fight but was concussed early and admitted later to Max Kellerman on HBO that he had speech problems for a few months because of his injuries. Going into the fight Marquez was the favourite due to his experience at the elite level and also because of his one-punch KO over arch nemesis Manny Pacquiao. The 13,111 that crammed into the Thomas and Mack Centre were certainly a pro-Marquez crowd but early on in the fight the Mexican fans had to watch as Bradley moved in and out forcing the counter-punching Marquez to break his game plan and come forward to push the action.

After an even first third of the fight, Bradley began to pull ahead as his hand and foot speed told against the 40-year-old multi division champion. The effects of that brutal Provodnikov fight didn't look to have any effect at all as Bradley continually beat Marquez to the punch using an effective jab and straight right hand. Bradley had pulled away but in the last two rounds Marquez came back tightening the scores with the best exchange happening in the last 10 seconds of the fight where after dominating the round, Marquez was nearly dropped by a huge left hook.

As the fight went to the cards Bradley was very sure he had won. The judges, well two of them agreed as Robert Hoyle and Patricia Jarman scored for Bradley with scores of 115-113 and 116-112. Glenn Feldmann's card of 115-113 Marquez was the odd one out.

Below is the punch starts for this fight along with this writers scorecard. I have also been able to collect (88) Press Scores and have compiled a Press Score Average.
