JOSH WARRINGTON took a step closer to a world title shot as he overwhelmed Dennis Ceylan on Saturday at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Swarming all over his opponent, Warrington knocked an exhausted Ceylan down in the 10th round before smashing the Dane down with a final left hook, ending it at 1-43.

He called for a fight with IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby next. “I will win that fight, simple as that. It doesn’t matter how it comes. I will win that world title. I’ve dreamed about it. I want it so much,” he said. “Get the fight made and I’ll show that.”

On the undercard Tyrone Nurse lost a unanimous decision and the British super-lightweight title to Jack Catterall, 115-114 for Robert Williams, 116-113 for John Keane and 118-111 for Michael Alexander.

Zelfa Barrett won the English super-featherweight title when he knocked out Chris Conwell in the fourth round.

Leon Woodstock outpointed Craig Poxon over 10 rounds and James Metcalf halted Damon Jones in six.
