NEW ZEALAND’S heavyweight hope Joseph Parker chalked up another stoppage victory on Saturday, bludgeoning Jason Bergman to defeat in eight rounds at the Faleata Sports Complex in Apia, Samoa.

The prospect is 18 bouts into a pro career that began in 2012 and has 16 inside the distance victories. Of Samoan heritage, this was the first time Parker, who normally fights in New Zealand, had boxed in the country. Parker already has an eye on fights with British heavyweights like Anthony Joshua and David Haye.

“The UK is the spot right now for boxing and it’s the hottest place to be for boxing,” he told Sky Sports. “There is a lot of great heavyweights and a lot of great fighters there.”
