IF you’re a former fighter, in good health, and under the age of 60, it’s likely you’re going to get asked about a comeback pretty much every time you dare to go within touching distance of a journalist. At the #JoshuaKlitschko public workouts on Wednesday night, soon-to-be 46-year-old Vitali Klitschko – who arrived in London that morning to support his brother, Wladimir Klitschko’s mission to destroy Anthony Joshua – was asked the question almost incessantly.
Now the Mayor of Kiev, Vitali initially replied: “I train every morning for two hours, but I don’t train to fight. I will never [fight] again.”
That seemed pretty definitive. He will never fight again. But still they asked.
“Okay, okay,” he said with a smile. “I hear Lennox Lewis make jokes about coming back. Is that what you want? Okay, I might come back. No I won’t. I am joking.”
There it is. You heard it here first. Vitali Klitschko is back.
