FLOYD MAYWEATHER will attend the inauguration of US president Donald Trump.

Speaking to TMZ, Mayweather’s endorsement of the incoming president wasn’t exactly ringing. “All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and pray and hope for the best,” Mayweather said. “Barack Obama was a good president and hopefully Donald Trump is a good president.”

Trump was ringside for Mayweather’s bout against Manny Pacquiao in 2015. Mayweather met with him in November after Trump had won the US election and isn’t the first figure from the boxing world to support the President Elect. Don King, for reasons as yet unclear, appeared alongside Trump to declare, “He’s a leader that can make things happen.”

Other figures from boxing have condemned Trump. Top Rank’s Bob Arum for instance promoted a ‘No Trump’ undercard, featuring Mexican fighters, in April to protest Trump’s rhetoric attacking Hispanic and minority communities during the election campaign.
