OF course Floyd Mayweather should be made to fight the best available, but it’s been a long time since Floyd played by the rules. He’s outgrown his sport while proving he’s the best in it, and as a consequence, merrily dances to his own tune.
There are more deserving challengers than Andre Berto. At 147lbs alone, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley, Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter can all feel hard done by. And if Berto – not ranked by Boxing News – is indeed Mayweather’s swansong, the American’s claims to be ‘The Best Ever’ sound even more ridiculous.
