THE annual British Boxing Board of Control Awards take place on Friday night (September 25) at the Novotel in Hammersmith. General Secretary Robert Smith was delighted to announce that the event has completely sold out following a triumphant year for the sport.

Nominated for British Boxer of the Year are: Lee Selby; Kell Brook; Amir Khan; Jamie McDonnell; Scott Quigg; James DeGale; and Carl Frampton.

Up for Contest of the Year are: Billy Joe Saunders-Chris Eubank Jnr; Frank Buglioni-Lee Markham; Derry Mathews-Tony Luis; Jorge Linares-Kevin Mitchell; and Dave Ryan-John Wayne Hibbert.

The nominations for the Overseas Boxer of Year are: Carson Jones; Zolani Tete; Jorge Linares; and Sergey Khomitsky.

Boxing News will introduce the new award for their British Trainer of the Year, and those up for the honour are: Adam Booth; Tony Sims; Tony Borg; Shane McGuigan; Joe Gallagher; Dominic Ingle; David Coldwell; and Jim McDonnell.
