ALFONSO GOMEZ has only fought twice since his 2012 points loss to Shawn Porter but he picked up a good victory over Yoshihiro Kamegai over 10 rounds at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California on Friday (March 20), winning 98-91 for all three judges.
Both weighed in at 149 3/4lbs. Gomez, who has suffered heavy losses to Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez, could now feature against some of the bigger names in the welterweight division
On the undercard Ronny Rios decisioned Sergio Frias over 10 rounds. Jamie Kavanagh touched down in the second round but forced Miguel Zamudio to retire after five rounds.
Hot middleweight prospect Jason Quigley picked up the fifth stoppage win of professional career against Tolutomi Agunbiade.
