ADONIS STEVENSON defended his WBC light-heavyweight with brutal efficiency, halting Andrzej Fonfara in two rounds at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Saturday (June 3).

Stevenson put him down in the first round and continued to punish him, forcing at stoppage just 28 seconds into the second round.

This was a rematch of a competitive 2014 clash but now Stevenson asserted his superiority.

“I was just focused in this fight and you see what happened,” Stevenson told Showtime’s Jim Gray in the ring. “Fonfara tried, but I was ready for this fight. My hand was very good [not hurting], so you see what happened.”

On the undercard former world champion Jean Pascal lost a majority decision to Eleider Alvarez.

“I wanted to do this fight because real champions fight real champions,” Alvarez said through a translator. “I’ve been waiting two years to get a title shot [against Stevenson]. I took this fight so I can really have the title fight, and there’s no doubt about it.”
