Pacquiao supreme, Kessler and ward get ready
This week's issue
WHAT a night it was at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao added more fuel to the fire that he should be regarded as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world by bedazzling and dismantling WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. Tris Dixon was ringside for this momentous event and an undercard including Daniel Santos-Yuri Foreman and Alfonso Gomez-Jesus Soto Karass.
We also have ringside reports from Matthew Hatton-Lovemore Ndou in Stoke, Andy lee's latest challenge in Cork and the battle of the Garys – Young and McMillan – in Glasgow.
We look ahead to a battle between the established and the rising in Oakland, California this weekend as the Super Six first series is rounded off by Denmark's WBA super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler, who has only lost to Joe Calzaghe, taking on undefeated former Olympic gold medallist Andre Ward in the American's hometown. Danny Flexen tries to pick a winner.
Daniel Herbert also previews the crunch clash for Rendall Munroe, as the Leicester man defends his European super-bantamweight title against tough Italian Simone Maludrottu.
Elsewhere, we have an obituary for ex-amateur star Bruce Wells, who has sadly passed away, our Big Feature is with US-based Brit Ola Afolabi who challenges Marco Huck for the WBO cruiserweight title on December 5 and our 60-Second Interview is with Prizefighter cruiser king Ovill McKenzie, who faces Joey Vegas this Friday.
