Kell Brook

Sheffield’s 22-year-old British welterweight champion, 17-0 (10)

Age started boxing: Nine. I was a hyperactive kid, jumping all over the house pretending I was Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. My dad sent me when he noticed I had a really hard punch.

First boxing memory: Trying to catch (future manager-trainer) Dave Coldwell in the bottom circle at the Ingle gym in Wincobank.

Inspiration: My parents.

Motivation: To be world champion and an idol.

Favourite all time fighter: Sugar Ray Robinson. Pound-for-pound the best. Fought every two weeks and still beat ’em all.

Best fight seen: Prince Naz against Kevin Kelley on the television.

Pre-fight meal: Chicken and pasta.

What do you do to relax: Go to the pictures. I like action, horrors and comedy.

Pre-fight superstitions: Always put the left glove on first.

What training do you do between fights: Lots of circuits and runs, knock about on the bags at the gym.

Typical breakfast: Porridge with chopped bananas and honey.

Toughest part of being a boxer: Making weight.

Favourite music: R n B, speed garage and dance.

Last book read: I’ve never read a book in my life! I read Boxing News.

Favourite film: Scarface.

What car do you drive: Honda HRV. I want a Range Rover Sport.

Where do you train: Wincobank, Brendan Ingle’s.

Training routine: Up at six, do a circuit. Return to the gym at 11 to do my pads and bags. Come back again around four to do my shadow, sparring and sit-ups. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I also do weights.

Toughest man faced: John Fewkes in the amateurs. We fought three times. I won two, including the last one, on unanimous decisions, John beat me on a majority. He was the last kid to beat me. Today, we’re very good friends.

What supplements do you take: Multi-vitamins.

If you weren’t a boxer what would you be: A property developer with my dad. Last place you went on holiday: Magaluf.

Favourite football team: Sheffield United.

Best boxer in the sport today: Since Mayweather retired, I’d have to say Joe Calzaghe.
